Lughnasadh is a Gaelic festival that marks the beginning of the harvest season.
Celebrated by the Irish, Scottish and those living in the Isle of Man, Lughnasadh or Lughnasadh is often held between the autumn equinox and the summer solstice, which incidentally falls on August 1. Typically the celebration begins the day before on the evening of July 31.
One of the four seasonal festivals, Gaelic people climb hills and mountains, particularly the Croagh Patrick during this festival.
This festival is also the time that the fields are blessed for better harvest.
